Like a Turtle

"Try to be like the turtle - at ease in your own shell."
Bill Copeland

How often do we try to fit into another person's expectations of us?  Do you let others decide what you do? What you wear? Who you are?

It is God's desire that we be exactly who He made us to be. God has a plan, allow His plan to work in your life. When you live in your shell you will begin to enjoy life and that joy will come to infect those around you.

Tomorrow, try to live like a turtle.

Everyday Miracles

"I am realistic - I expect miracles."
Wayne Dyer

I too expect miracles - everyday. From the miracle of sight to watch a new day dawn, the miracle of movement after my feet hit the floor and the miracle of food in the cupboard to break a night of fast.  All this in just the first few minutes of my day.

Each day is a miracle. Please join me in celebrating the miracles found therein.

Taking the Long Way Home

Today, the Feast of the Epiphany, we learned that camels are stinky, stubborn animals that spit.  They rock when they walk.  It must have been very difficult for the Wise Guys to travel by camel - it is even more amazing that they took the long way home - on a camel - to avoid Herod.
It could not have been pleasant - so it must have been very important that they make this choice.

Our children are so smart!

Gift of the Magi

While it is common knowledge that the Magi brought gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh to the baby Jesus, their larger and more valuable gift is often less recognized.

The Magi brought to us the gift of faith. These Wise Guys heard and heeded the message in their dream.  They did not go back to Herod. In fact, they returned home by going 'the long way' to avoid Herod. They heard and they believed.

How many of us will go out of our way for faith?

A First

Happy New Year!

As the new year begins, I am drawn to the possiblity of firsts.

For many of us the first time we try something it is a momentous occasion.
While a first step and first birthday are probably long behind most of us, there are other firsts that we approach with fear simply because we have never done them before - hence they are first.

Every day is a series of firsts. No matter what happened in the past today is the first day of the rest of your life. While the first is always the hardest - it is also the stepping stone to the future.

This year be fearless about those firsts. Chase them. Embrace them. Enjoy them. For they will never pass this way again.
