Unexpected Guests

As I put annuals in to their beds, two guests visited.

Though I know I should not, I threw bits of bread to these guests.  The female, clearly a woman of refined taste, refused to eat any bread that still had crust preferring to leave it for her companion.

Spirit Birthday

On the feast of Pentecost we remember the gift of the Holy Spirit.
When I asked this morning about the Holy Spirit, a wise little one responded

"The Holy Spirit lives in your heart so you can hear when God is talking to you."

Oops

A little kitchen mishap when my daughter attempted a new recipe.

While the dish was rendered inedible, the lesson learn "blenders and wooden spoons don't mix", will last a life time.

The Other Award

While my youngest was receiving her award, her sister's boyfriend was buying flowers.

Having approached the flower store after its announced hours, he saw a lady still tending to the business at hand.  He knocked. She answered.

As he explained his predicament, he told that the flowers were for  his girlfriend's little sister. Kindly she opened the doors and allowed him to make his purchase commenting on this sweet gesture.

Tears

This evening my youngest daughter received a local award for an essay she had written.  Words cannot portray the pride that I felt seeing her receive the accolades and hearing her speak the words she had skillfully put to paper.

While, I as a mother may have shed a tear of joy, it was equally rewarding to see others reach for their kleenex to wipe away tears as my child re-told of her experience helping the very poor.
